Bumble bee

Here you can see a few stages of my work in progress. This one is called "Bumblebee" and it is a part of the series of drawings called "Automatons". It represents my fascination from the aesthetics of steampunk gadgets, machinery, all kinds of fictional machines and retro-futuristic inventions. 

Did you know that if all the bees disappear from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live, according to Einstein.

After the  pencil drawing I spill over a lot of coffee over the paper, that's how I achieve such an old look of the surface of the paper.

I'm using different colors of pens and watercolor pencils. At the end, the sheet needs a little bit of ironing.

I really like the vintage looking surface of the drawing and the rusty steel details in the machine.

HAIKU INTENTIONS

 These are some of the paintings from my exhibition that I made in November. All of the seventeen paintings are the same size, 120 x 40 cm.

  Painting and my fascination with haiku poetry merged paths in this exhibition, using the haiku form as an inspiration, without the resulting painting turning into illustration of the poetry.
  Haiku is the shortest poetic form, it considers a short moment in time, based on direct observation of a natural phenomenon in close distance.
  The nature is viewed in it's fragmental quality.
 In haiku poetry there are no metaphors, and the author often stays hidden. He is "the hand that points to the sun".

The Feast

  This is a family lunch on the occasion on some occasion. Regretably, family celebrations often turn  into a big excessive eating . The consumerist spirit of modern society forces the abundance of food and overeating as a measure of enjoyment.

  This is my only painting done in this pointillist manner, which came naturally, and as a result of my search for the most direct method to paint what i have envisioned .The memory of my Family's feasts lingered as a hazy picture in my mind. The grotesquerie in teh painting reveals the personal relation with the subject and my commentary on the personalityof the portrayed. I leave it to the viewer to come up with his own stories about this family's sunday lunch meetings.
